Doncaster have confirmed they are still at least two weeks away from making a managerial appointment.

Rovers are on the lookout for a new boss after sacking Paul Dickov a fortnight ago following a disappointing start to their Sky Bet League One campaign, and after advertising the position on their official club website have been inundated with applications.

Veteran defender Rob Jones is currently in caretaker control and Rovers are happy for him to carry on while they go through a rigorous selection process.

An official statement read: "The club can confirm the process is on track and we are extremely pleased and excited about the high calibre of candidates that have either applied directly of via their agents.

"The deadline for applications is September 25. From there a shortlist will be drawn up and interviews will commence over the following two weeks.

"The board of directors want to state that the process will not be rushed, that Rob Jones will be given the best chance to perform while in temporary charge, and that they are 100 per cent comfortable that the recruitment process they are following will ensure that we get the very best manager for the football club."
