Crewe have put Anthony Elding on the transfer list after Dario Gradi revealed he is now the sixth-choice striker.

Striker now sixth choice in Gradi's plans

Crewe Alexandra have placed Anthony Elding on the transfer list after Dario Gradi revealed he is now the sixth-choice striker at Gresty Road. Elding joined the League Two strugglers from Leeds United in 2008, but spent three months on loan at Lincoln City in the second half of last season. He has made 10 appearances in the league for Crewe this term, but was left out of the squad for Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Notts County. Railwaymen boss Gradi has confirmed that the 27-year-old can now leave the club, with Calvin Zola, Clayton Donaldson, Joel Grant, Byron Moore and Shaun Miller ahead of him in the pecking order. "I have told Anthony that he can go out on loan or he can go because there are a number of forward players ahead of him," Gradi told the club's official website. "I have got five to choose from and a decision had to be made. Elding can leave if he can get himself sorted out and that is the decision I've made. "We have to find a couple of strikers who are going to be consistent in front of goal. I don't know if any of the strikers we have here at the moment are going to do that and make us a promotion looking team."
