Bruno Ribeiro has resigned as Port Vale manager.
His resignation comes after the 1-0 Boxing Day loss at home to Walsall, which was Port Vale's third successive defeat.
"The chairman and I had a project, which sadly due to recent form left me feeling that I let the chairman, fans and club down," Ribeiro told Port Vale's official website.
"It is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation with Port Vale Football Club. I would like to wish the club all the best for the future."
Vale are 17th in the League One table after one victory in their last 10 league games.
Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite added: "Sadly the project that we undertook is not working and that is demonstrated by today's result.
"I have accepted Bruno's resignation, which highlights his humility and professionalism and I would like to thank him for his service to the club and wish him all the best for the future".
Port Vale have announced Michael Brown will take temporary charge of first-team affairs until further notice.
