New two-year deal for striker

Port Vale striker Marc Richards has ended speculation over his future by signing a new deal at the club. Richards recently turned down a move to Cheltenham saying he was happy to stay at Vale Park. The former Barnsley man has been rewarded for his loyalty by being handed a lucrative two-year contract extension.

Delighted

"I am delighted that I have finally put pen-to-paper to extend my contract," Richards told the club's official website. "I just want to get back to playing football now and doing the stuff I'm paid to do. "It is going to be a big season. After the season I had last year I want to hit the ground running and if I can get a goal on Saturday that will be a good start for me and I want to kick on from there."
