Ex-Lincoln man relishing Sincil Bank return

Port Vale midfielder Louis Dodds is relishing returning to his former club Lincoln City on Saturday. The 22-year-old played for The Imps last term on a season-long loan deal from Leicester City. He told skysports.com that he will not be getting carried away with the celebrations if they are victorious. "I think I'll get a good response from the home fans, as I played there all season, scoring nine goals in the process and I usually got applause there if I came off or on from the bench," said Dodds. "It will be nice to go back there and they are a great family club. I've still got a lot of friends down there and we tried to sort something out during the summer, but it didn't quite happen. "I wouldn't celebrate towards their fans I don't think because they gave me a chance by taking me on loan for the season. "It would be great for the Port Vale fans if I did score, but I wouldn't rub it in at the Lincoln supporters because I have a lot of respect for them."

Inconsistency

The Valiants have suffered in recent weeks with inconsistency setting in at Vale Park, while they lost their last away encounter 1-0 against Aldershot in mid-week. But Dodds believe they will soon get it out of their system and put a run of results together. "We are a young squad and it was always going to be tough going to Aldershot. I think we'll start grinding out results like that soon and moving up the table," he continued. "The manager has installed a new sense of belief in the players, as I think on Tuesday night we could have crumbled after going a goal down, but we didn't and we pushed on to grab an equaliser, whilst keeping them out at the other end." Dodds has scored three times this season and the former striker is pleased with his contribution so far. "I'm happy with my return of three goals so far and I'm on course for my target of ten goals for the season, so from midfield I can't complain with my tally and hopefully I'll add another one to it on Saturday."
