Port Vale have offered former Crewe Alexandra youngster Ritchie Sutton the chance to train with the club in pre-season. The 24-year-old, who is currently on the books of semi-professional team Nantwich Town, was released by the Alex in 2007 without making a first-team appearance. He went on to enjoy spells at Stafford Rangers, Northwich Victoria and Halifax before being snapped up by the Dabbers where he has spent the past two seasons. Sutton was unable to accept an offer of a trial with Vale last summer, but will now link up with Micky Adams' side in July. "Micky has made me aware that this is only a trial," Sutton told The Sentinel. "But this is a massive chance and it could be a turning point for me. "I support Vale and was a season-ticket holder as a kid, so this is massive for me and my family. "When I was at Crewe we were in the Championship and breaking into their team was always going to be a big ask. But with the Vale playing in League Two, I know I can play at that level."
