Iron keeper does not expect to move in the New Year

Joe Murphy does not expect to leave Scunthorpe United in January and remains open to signing a new contract. The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of the season and there have been preliminary talks regarding an extension. The 29-year-old has made over 200 appearances since joining the Iron from Sunderland in 2006 and is enjoying his time at Glanford Park. He intends to stay with the Championship strugglers for the rest of this season and will wait to see how any further talks progress.

Enjoying it

"The transfer window opens in two weeks and I'm sure if I was leaving, it would have been sorted by now," Murphy told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "All I know is my agent was in the club about three or four weeks ago, when I was with Ireland. He met the chairman and had a chat and that is how it has ended, nothing has been said since. "For me, I am a Scunthorpe player and I will be until the end of the season at least. "If there is an offer there I will look at it and have a think about it because this is my fifth season, I am enjoying it and I am playing football."
