Lambert and Lallana among the nominees for League awards

Southampton duo Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana will be among those hoping to land one of the prizes at the 2012 Football League awards. The Saints pair have been nominated in the Championship Player of the Year category, alongside Cardiff winger Peter Whittingham. Lambert and Lallana have played a leading role for Southampton over the past 12 months, helping the club to land the League One title and position themselves among the promotion frontrunners in the Championship. Cardiff are also well-placed in that pack, with Whittingham's 10 goals having kept them in contention towards the top of the second tier table. Johnnie Jackson, Ched Evans and Jordan Rhodes are up for the League One Player of the Year.

Reliant

Charlton skipper Jackson has led from the front, netting 12 goals, as the Addicks sit seven points clear at the top of the division. Sheffield United have been reliant on Evans as they look to win promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking, with the Welsh striker having found the net 21 times for the Blades, who sit in second place. Huddersfield have bounced back from last season's play-off final defeat by Peterborough by maintaining their promotion push this term, mainly thanks to 29 goals from highly-regarded striker Rhodes. Marlon Pack, Matt Ritchie and Tyrone Barnett make up the shortlist for the League Two Player of the Year. Midfielder Pack has been influential in Cheltenham's quest for automatic promotion, with the Robins sitting in second place in the table, one point behind Ritchie's Swindon. Paolo Di Canio has inspired his side to the summit of League Two, with former Portsmouth winger Ritchie weighing in with 10 goals.
Impressive
Barnett and Matt Tubbs, now at Bournemouth, formed a formidable partnership as Crawley hunt successive promotions, the former hitting the net 15 times before sealing a loan move to Peterborough on Tuesday with a view to a permanent deal. Matt Phillips' impressive form for Blackpool has seen him listed in the Young Player of the Year category alongside Brighton's Lewis Dunk and in-demand Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha. Brighton's Gus Poyet, Dougie Freedman of Crystal Palace and former Huddersfield boss Lee Clark are in the running for the Outstanding Managerial Achievement award. Clark guided the Terriers to a new Football League record of 43 games unbeaten earlier this season, but was surprisingly shown the door at the Galpharm Stadium on 15th February. The winners will be announced at the Football League awards gala dinner in London on Sunday, 11th March.
