Brighton understood to have rejected second approach

Sky Sports understands that Barnsley have failed with a second approach for Brighton defender Gordon Greer. Seagulls captain Greer was the subject of a bid from the Tykes earlier this month but Gus Poyet had no hesitation in turning down the offer. Greer has just one year remaining on his current deal at the Amex Stadium and Barnsley are now believed to have revived their interest in the player. However, it is understood that Brighton have again stood firm as they regard Greer as a key part of their plans and somebody they do not want to lose. Poyet made it clear when Barnsley tried to sign Greer the first time that it would take an 'incredible' offer for Brighton to sell their skipper.
