Robins eye Ridley

Cheltenham boss John Ward is targeting the signature of Scunthorpe defender Lee Ridley.

Cheltenham boss John Ward is targeting the signature of Scunthorpe defender Lee Ridley.

The Robins recently missed out on adding Kristian O'Leary to the squad after he decided to stay with Swansea.

Chairman Paul Baker says the finances are there for the club to build up the side ahead of the new season and they are keen for Ridley to move to Whaddon Road.

"We have offered him what he is asking for, so it's a decision for him about whether he wants to move 200 miles to play here," Baker told the Gloucestershire Echo.

"Bradford want him, but we can offer him League One football, compared to League Two.

"There is quite a lot of money available for wages. Players on reasonable money have gone, and there is also some money from Kayode Odejayi's transfer and the Bristol Rovers deal, so we can offer decent wages."
