Blades boss looking forward to adding winger to his squad

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell expects to finalise the signing of Middlesbrough winger Mark Yeates on Monday. Blackwell has lined up a permanent deal for Yeates, who only joined Boro from Colchester United last summer. Yeates has made 21 appearances for Boro but, having been signed by Gareth Southgate, he is not part of current manager Gordon Strachan's long-term plans. He was not involved as Boro lost 1-0 at Bramall Lane on Saturday and he is due to complete his move to the Blades on Monday. The 25-year-old will undergo a medical and agree personal terms ahead of a switch to the Steel City for a fee in the region of £500,000. Blackwell believes the Irish wide man is capable of having a major impact as he looks to lead the Blades to promotion to the Premier League. "The game against Middlesbrough was a classic example of wide players heavily involved in winning games," Blackwell told the club's official website. "These days wingers have to be athletes who can get up and down the pitch and I think Mark can bring something different to what we already have at the club."
