Russell Slade is expected to be named the new manager of Grimsby Town, according to Sky sources
The 56-year-old looks set to be appointed during the next 24 hours, which would mean a return to Blundell Park where he was manager between 2004 and 2006.
Back then, Slade led the Mariners to the League Two play-off final in May 2006 when they lost to Cheltenham Town at the Millennium Stadium.
Grimsby, who are currently 14th in the League Two table, seven points off a play-off spot, sacked Marcus Bignot on Monday after five months in charge.
And if Slade takes charge, it will be his third managerial appointment of the season having been boss of Charlton between June and November 2016, before spending 11 weeks with Coventry who sacked him in early March after just three wins in 16 matches.
During his 23-year career as a manager, Slade has also been in charge at Cardiff, Leyton Orient, Brighton, Yeovil, Scarborough, Sheffield United and Notts County.
