Stockport refuse permission for loan move

Skysports.com understands League Two side Torquay United made a late and unsuccessful bid for Stockport County's Greg Tansey before the loan window closed. With Torquay looking to replace Ben Pringle, who had returned to parent club Derby County earlier in the week, they saw the highly-rated Tansey as the ideal replacement to aid their promotion push. However, Tansey's hopes of swapping a relegation battle with Stockport to push for automatic promotion with the Devon club were ended before Thursday's deadline, with County's coaches refusing the request. Liverpool-born Tansey, 22, has been one of the shining lights in what has been a miserable season for the league's basement club. Tansey, whose contract ends in the summer, has served the club well for nine years since making his debut in 2006 and has clocked up almost 100 appearances. However with Stockport looking likely to drop out of the Football League, Tansey is expected to move away from the club in the close-season with a number of League One clubs ready to pounce for the highly regarded midfielder.
