Shrewsbury have announced the signing of defender Sam Patterson on a one-year deal.
The 21-year-old, who was released by Barnsley, has been on trial with the Shrews over the summer and impressed manager Micky Mellon.
Patterson told the club's official website: "I'm over the moon.
"It's been a long time for me out of football.
"To finally put pen to paper is a great day for me and my family as well."
