Shrewsbury midfielder James Wesolowski has suffered a second cruciate ligament injury and looks set to be ruled out for nine months.

Wesolowski suffered the injury midway through the first half against Barnsley and could now miss the rest of the season.

It is a similar injury to the one he sustained on the same leg in January.

Shrews manager Micky Mellon told the club's official website: "Unfortunately he's gone and picked up the same type of injury again and I'm devastated for him and his family after the work that he has put in.

"I've spoken to him today and we've said that everyday is a day to look forward to as it's a day closer to him recovering again.

"He's got to show all of that character again and I'm sure that he will and he will get all the support that he needs and we will all get right behind him.

"It's just unfortunately one of these things and all that we can do now is support Weso as much as possible."
