Barnet have sacked Graham Westley and appointed Martin Allen as manager for his fifth spell in charge.

Allen's fourth spell with the Bees ended in 2016 when he left to become boss at National League side Eastleigh.

Westley - who has also had spells as manager of Stevenage (twice), Preston, Peterborough and Newport - took over at The Hive in January but was unable to guide them up the table.

Barnet, who play Luton on Saturday, live on Sky Sports, are eight points adrift at the bottom of the Sky Bet League Two table.

That has led to yet another management shift, with the Bees having now made 20 managerial changes since 2010.

"Everyone at The Hive London would like to wish Martin the best of luck as he joins our fight to keep Barnet in the Football League," the club said in a statement.

"The club would like to encourage every Bees fan out there to get behind Martin and the team for our crucial eight-game run-in and for us all to pull together as we look to maintain our league status.

"Barnet Football Club can also confirm the departure of head coach Graham Westley and head of technical Mark McGhee with immediate effect."

Barnet chairman Anthony Kleanthous says he should have appointed Allen in January.

Kleanthous told the club website: "Doing nothing was not an option so here we are again, another Monday, another manager. Martin is back.

"His remit is simple: clear the decks, get everyone focused and win matches.

"I knew Martin was available and we met for breakfast one morning (in January).

"I should have given him the job there and then but, at that time I was still thinking we could make the play-offs, and he was trying to convince me we were going to be fighting relegation.

"With hindsight he was right and I was in cuckoo land but, as always when it comes to Barnet, I struggle to accept anything negative and my enthusiasm gets the better of me. I should have listened to him."
