Thomas Ince scored the winner on his debut as Huddersfield Town beat Accrington Stanley1-0 in their first pre-season friendly.

The summer arrival from Derby netted on 56 minutes at the Wham Stadium to seal victory for the Premier League side against League Two opposition.

Record signing Steve Mounie also featured for the Terriers but the striker squandered his best chance of the game, lobbing wide with the goal at his mercy.

Stoke fought back from a two-goal deficit to beat Young Boys on penalties in Switzerland.

The Swiss Super League side looked set for victory following goals from Guillaume Hoarau and Yoric Ravet.

But Charlie Adam scored from the spot after Peter Crouch was fouled before the Scotland international set up Marc Muniesa to head in the equaliser.

Goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard was Stoke's saviour in the shoot-out, saving three penalties, while Crouch scored the winning spot-kick.

Wahbi Khazri, who starred against Hibernian last weekend, opened the scoring with an accurate finish before manager Simon Grayson made 10 changes in the second half.

Joel Asoro grabbed the Black Cats' second goal and Jeremain Lens' strike from distance capped an impressive display.

Aston Villa played a pair of friendlies, beating Kidderminster 3-0 and Telford United 4-0.

Conor Hourihane, James Chester and Harry McKirdy were on target against the Harriers, while Gabby Agbonlahor, Andre Green and an Henri Lansbury double wrapped up victory over Telford.

There was a double injury blow for Steve Bruce in the latter game, though, as Albert Adomah and Nathan Baker both limped off.
