Veteran striker Kenny Miller has signed a one-year extension to his current contract with Rangers.

The 35-year-old is in his third spell with the Light Blues and has scored five goals in 13 appearances this season, and 81 in 201 games for the club in three separate spells.

Miller has also taken on a coaching role with Rangers' U20s team, working under coach Ian Durrant.

After signing his new deal, he told RangersTV: "I am absolutely delighted. It was unexpected to have the conversation so early in regards to staying for another year.

"It's great to get it done and dusted, and I'm firmly focused on getting back fit, back playing.

"I'm very, very thankful that the manager has seen enough in the first four or five months to offer me that extra year, and hopefully I can repay him with some good performances, a few more goals, and hopefully a promotion to get us back to the top league next year."

Rangers manager Mark Warburton is delighted Miller has extended his stay at the Scottish Championship side and is adamant the former Celtic and Scotland striker still has a lot to offer on the pitch.

"From the first day of pre-season he developed a real desire and a passion to help take the club forward and he's made a very positive contribution both on and off the pitch.

"His seniority within the squad is very important, his knowledge and his experience are special when we have such a young squad and have recruited young players and have taken in young loan players too.

"The experience of the likes of Kenny, Dean Shiels and Lee Wallace, as captain of course, is invaluable. So he has a key role to play on and off the pitch and I am delighted to have Kenny accept this new contract offer."
