League Cup round-up: Holders Ross County knocked out after defeat at Alloa

Holders Ross County have been knocked out of the Scottish League Cup after suffering a shock 3-2 defeat at Alloa Athletic on Tuesday.

Goals from Jordan Kirkpatrick (2) and John Robertson (11) saw Alloa race into an early two goal lead.

Brian Graham (14) and Alex Schalk (21) quickly levelled up proceedings for County, who tasted glory at Hampden Park last March when they defeated Hibernian. 

However, Alloa were not to be denied victory and grabbed the winner through Calum Walters (72) as they maintained their 100 per cent record in the competition. 

Dundee are also facing possible early elimination after losing 2-1 at League One Peterhead.  

Rory McAllister (62) put the home side in front and made sure of the win from the penalty spot (88) after being brought down inside the 18-yard box. 

Greg Stewart (90) grabbed a late goal for Dundee, but it was not enough as they slumped to defeat.

Mathias Pogba was on target as Partick Thistle boosted their chances of securing a place in the last-16 with a 4-1 victory away at Stenhousemuir.

Pogba (20) - the brother of Juventus midfielder Paul - opened the scoring for Partick, heading past Stenhousemuir goalkeeper Colin McCabe after meeting Callum Booth's cross from the left flank.

Partick doubled their advantage just two minutes later when Sean Welsh (22) netted from the penalty spot after David Amoo was upended inside the 18-yard box. 

Liam McCroary (73) briefly reduced the deficit for the League One side, but two late goals from Amoo (85) and Adebayo Azeez (86) wrapped up a comfortable win for Partick. 

Lee Clark's Kilmarnock claimed their second win of the new season as they came from two goals down to defeat Berwick Rangers 3-2. 

Berwick captain John Fairburn (11) put the League Two side in front and they looked on course to secure a famous win when Sean Mackie (56) doubled their advantage. 

But a quick fire double from Souleymane Coulibaly (65, 70) brought Kilmarnock level and Rory McKenzie (85) completed the comeback. 

Iain Vigurs hit a hat-trick as Inverness won 5-1 at Dunfermline to maintain their hopes of qualifying for the last 16. 

Vigurs (16, 42) scored either side of  an Andy Geggan (22) equaliser to put Inverness in control at the half-time. 

Billy King (54) increased the away side's advantage before Vigurs completed his treble (66) to put the result beyond any doubt, with Carl Tremarco (85) grabbing a late fifth. 

Motherwell made it successive victories after defeating East Stirlingshire 3-0 thanks to goals from Marvin Johnson (53), Scott McDonald (76) and Chris Cadden (87).
