Jamie Walker's double helped lift Hearts into second place in the Ladbrokes Premiership after Robbie Neilson's side came from behind to beat Hamilton 3-1 on Saturday.

After the Tynecastle outfit dominated a one-sided first half, Accies stormed ahead in the 50th minute when Ali Crawford slammed a volley into the net.

But Walker levelled with a powerful header before converting a controversial penalty after Sam Nicholson's charging run into the area was halted by Shaun Want.

Nicholson then added gloss to the scoreline with a close-range injury-time volley.

The victory moves Hearts two points clear of Rangers in second after the Ibrox club lost the midday Old Firm clash at Celtic.

Second-half goals from Niall McGinn and Iain Vigurs saw Aberdeen and Inverness share a 1-1 draw.

McGinn cut in from the left to curl home a fine opener for the hosts as they looked to bounce back with a win after losing 4-1 to Celtic before the international break.

But even that was topped by Vigurs' superb long-range equaliser in the 68th minute as Caley Thistle earned a point.

McGinn broke the deadlock just seven minutes into the second half when he drifted off his wing, cut onto his right foot and from the edge of the area swept a delightful low, curling shot into the far corner of the net.

But it was Inverness who were celebrating midway through the second half as they found a leveller - and how. There seemed no danger when the ball dropped to Vigurs, but the Aberdeen-born midfielder curled a spectacular effort beyond Joe Lewis and in off the underside of the crossbar.

Dundee remain without a home win in the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Kilmarnock.

Paul Hartley's side raced into an early lead through Faissal El Bakhtaoui after seven minutes before Souleymane Coulibaly's stunning overhead equaliser on 32 minutes levelled matters.

The Dark Blues were forced to play the last 10 minutes with 10 men after French defender Kevin Gomis was shown a straight red card for a rash tackle on substitute Charlee Adams as their Dens Park hoodoo continues this season.

Louis Moult came off the bench to rescue a point for Motherwell against Ross County at the Global Energy Stadium in a match which only came to life in the second half.

Liam Boyce gave County the lead in the 61st minute, but Motherwell were thrown a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty six minutes later.

Scott McDonald was felled in the box and Moult knocked in the spot-kick to clinch a 1-1 draw.

County played the last 20 minutes without defender Jay McEveley who was sent off for two bookable offences.

Steven MacLean's stunning strike clinched a 2-0 victory for St Johnstone and condemned Partick Thistle to a third straight defeat to leave them bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership.

The visitors opened the scoring through Steven Anderson as the defender squeezed the ball in from a tight angle from Danny Swanson's delivery.

Thistle had chances to get back into the game with Chris Erskine and substitute Ryan Edwards coming close for the hosts. However, MacLean put the match firmly beyond the Firhill men's grasp with a venomous 25-yard drive in the second half.

Thistle had won all three games between the two sides last season but that record never looked likely to continue here as they were comfortably beaten.
