Richard Foster and Danny Swanson were sent off for fighting each other as St Johnstone slipped to a 1-0 defeat away to Scottish Premiership strugglers Hamilton.
The pair were shown red cards at half-time on Saturday after Foster appeared to lunge at Swanson before being brought to the ground by his own team-mate, who then looked to kick him. A mass brawl followed seeing players and staff from both sides come together as they walked off the pitch.
Hamilton dominated in the second half, going close through Michael Devlin and Giannis Skondras, before Alex D'Acol grabbed a vital goal in the 89th minute to lift the Accies off the bottom of the table.
Defeat means Saints slip further behind third-placed Rangers, who extend the gap over the Perth side to eight points, despite having to come from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Motherwell.
Kris Doolan's brace saw Partick tighten their grip on a top six place with a 2-1 win over Ross County at Firhill.
Craig Curran curled home the opener for the visitors early in the second half, before Doolan pulled one back five minutes later.
The striker fired home in the final 10 minutes to see Thistle open up a four-point lead on Kilmarnock, who remain seventh.
