New Scottish FA chief Executive Ian Maxwell is confident his experience at all levels will help him succeed.
Maxwell joins from his role as managing director of Partick Thistle, who were relegated from the Scottish Premier League on Sunday after a play-off defeat to Livingston.
Despite that blot on his record, Maxwell believes he is well prepared for the step up to a full-time position within the national set-up.
"I'm absolutely delighted to be here. It's a huge honour," Maxwell said on his second day in the job on Tuesday after being appointed in April.
"I think I bring a unique understanding of Scottish football across every level.
"I've played and scored in every division in Scotland which I'm not sure many have done."
Maxwell began his career at Queen's Park, with subsequent spells at Ross County, St Johnstone, St Mirren and Thistle.
Following his retirement, Maxwell moved into management, initially as assistant at Partick Thistle before moving into the boardroom as general manager and then being promoted to managing director in 2014.
"I was assistant manager, general manager and managing director at Thistle," Maxwell added.
"My son plays for Cumbernauld Colts, I've coached his teams for a number of years, and I still play Over-35s football on a Sunday afternoon so Scottish football means a lot to me.
"I see it from different viewpoints - on and off the pitch, from the boardroom to a local level.
"Having an understanding of the issues that every different area of Scottish football faces can only help in dealing with them."
