Hamilton Academical boss Billy Reid says James McCarthy will be staying until the summer at least.

Teenage sensation will not be leaving in January

Hamilton Academical boss Billy Reid says coveted midfielder James McCarthy will be staying at the club until the end of the season at least. The 18-year-old has attracted the attention of a number of top clubs across Europe after putting in some stunning performances with the SPL outfit. Barcelona are reported to be showing a major interest in the player, says his agent, but Reid insists the player is going nowhere. The Accies boss, whose side take on Kilmarnock in the SPL on Saturday, said: "McCarthy has been outstanding this season. He has been absolutely sensational in the SPL and that speculation will never go away.

Guarantee

"The one thing I guarantee is that he won't be leaving in January - he will be here until the end of the season at least. "We will sit down with James and see where we are, but it's no surprise there are big-name clubs looking at him."
