Tannadice boss not looking to bring in Gers defender

Dundee United boss Craig Levein has denied reports that he has tried to sign Rangers defender Andy Webster. Reports had claimed that Levein was looking to take the Scotland international to Tannadice on a season-long loan. Levein admitting discussing Webster's situation at Ibrox in the past, but says he has not made an offer to his Gers counterpart Walter Smith. "That's interesting to hear, but it isn't right because we have not made any moves for Andy Webster," Levein told the Dundee Evening Telegraph. "He is someone I know very well from our time together at Hearts and what has happened is that, back in January, Wattie Smith and I had a long chat about his situation, but we were not discussing a move." Webster has endured a frustrating career at Ibrox, with his time at the SPL champions ravaged by injury problems. He spent the first half of last season on loan at Bristol City and failed to make an appearance for the Gers upon his return to Glasgow.
