Hearts have been boosted by the news that goalkeeper Marian Kello has penned a new one-year deal with the club.
His decision to stay at the Edinburgh outfit, where he ended last season as No.1, means Hearts have strong competition for the position as Janos Balogh and Jamie MacDonald will also be vying to play.
Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo is delighted to have retained the services of Kello - who is in contention to feature in the friendly with Plymouth on Wednesday - for another season at least.
"I am happy at the moment to know that Marian's contract is resolved and that he now has the possibility to concentrate on his job," Laszlo told the club's official website.
"We have the same situation like last year, with three goalkeepers who we think will give good competition. After we will chose the best for the goal.
"We now have four very good goalkeepers, one young one in Mark Ridgers who will stay behind everyone but slowly he will have a big future.
"We have three experienced players too and now in this position we are ready and we close this part of the squad."
Meanwhile, Portuguese pair Joao Moreira and Zezinando Odelfrides Gomes Correia have joined Hearts on trial.
Striker Joao, 23, who arrived from Beira Mar, and midfielder Zezinando, who is a free agent after his contract with Sporting Lisbon ended, trained with the squad for the first time on Saturday before the club's 3-0 defeat at Southampton.
