Well manager backs midfielder to play against Hibs

Motherwell boss Stuart McCall will not hesitate in playing Steve Jennings against Hibernian on Saturday despite his arrest last week. The club confirmed on Thursday that the midfielder was available for selection despite him being one of nine men arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud following a joint operation by Merseyside Police and the Gambling Commission. The probe followed reports from some bookmakers of irregular betting patterns on Motherwell's 2-1 defeat by Hearts last December, during which Jennings was sent off. The 26-year-old former Tranmere midfielder was bailed until January pending further inquiries on the same day as his arrest and has trained with his team-mates as normal this week ahead of the Scottish Premier League clash with Hibs.

No doubt

McCall said on Friday morning: "All this week his training has been absolutely outstanding. "There is no doubt in my mind he'll be playing. "Jenno just wants to get on with his football. "As far as I'm concerned, Jenno's head is right, he wants to play, he is an important part of our team, and he'll be playing at Easter Road."
