A round-up of all Saturday's action from the Scottish Premiership.

Aberdeen equalled their best start to a league campaign as they won their fifth consecutive Scottish Premiership game by beating Partick 2-0 in Glasgow.

The result moves the Dons to second place after they and new leaders Celtic both leapfrogged Hearts after they lost 3-2 to Hamilton in a controversial game at New Douglas Park.

Aberdeen and Hearts were the only sides going into the weekend who still had 100 per cent records in the top flight.

And it is the Pittodrie side who will be the final one to retain theirs after they eased to a professional victory against Alan Archibald's men.

In doing so, they replicated the run of results they had at the start of the 1984/85 season, the best in their 112-year history.

They went on to win the title back then and that still stands as the last time neither Rangers nor Celtic has claimed it.

The first half at Firhill was a largely forgettable affair as neither side looked like scoring while they cancelled each other out.

But the visitors stepped up a gear after the break and Adam Rooney's third goal in two games put them in front four minutes after the interval.

Aberdeen quickly hit their opponents with a second – Kenny McLean scoring for the fifth time this this season eight minutes later - to ensure victory.

Derek McInnes' team has been in excellent form over the last few weeks and their quintet of successes have come with the concession of just one goal.

Hamilton and Hearts played out a five-goal thriller which was packed with drama.

The Edinburgh side travelled there as the league leaders having won all of their five matches so far following promotion from the Championship.

But they fell behind right before half-time when Gramoz Kurtaj gave the hosts, looking to bounce back from their League Cup exit at Raith in midweek, a lead.

Hearts responded well after the restart, drawing level through Billy King before Scotland squad member Callum Paterson turned the match on its head as he put them 2-1 up.

Paterson was the catalyst for victory but not for his own team. Instead, his red card six minutes after he scored and 13 from full-time sparked a comeback from the home side.

The full-back was dismissed for a lunging tackle and Ali Crawford restored parity with a stunning long-range effort before Jesus Garcia Tena clinched it for Hamilton two minutes from full-time.

They stay ahead of Ross County on goal difference after the Highlanders piled pressure on Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara with a 2-1 success at Victoria Park.

Liam Boyce continued his good recent run with a penalty opener to make it five goals in four games personally having scored in every fixture.

Captain Andrew Davies then made it 2-0 and although Sean Dillon pulled one back for the visitors after the break, it wasn't enough.

Kilmarnock manager Gary Locke is another boss in trouble after he saw his team beaten 1-0 by Motherwell at Fir Park.

Having lost 4-0 twice already this term – most recently against County last week – Louis Moult's penalty left the Ayrshiremen at the foot of the table after their fourth defeat in six games.

In the remaining match former Rangers striker Kane Hemmings nicked a point for Dundee as they consolidated their sixth position with a 1-1 draw at home to Inverness.

The visiting side looked like they would finally get their first win of the campaign at their eighth time of asking in all competitions thanks to David Raven's opener on the hour.

But Hemmings struck a minute into injury-time with his third league goal of the season – all of them coming at Dens Park - and fourth overall.

Inverness stay third-bottom having still not won a match since their Scottish Cup final victory against Falkirk in May.
