Brendan Rodgers has revealed Craig Gordon has agreed a contract extension at Celtic and is likely to sign his new deal this coming week.

The Scotland goalkeeper, who has three months left on his current contract, was the subject of two bids from Premier League leaders Chelsea in January.

Reports in the press have suggested Gordon will sign a deal that will keep him at Celtic Park until 2020.

"I'm led to believe that everything's agreed," Rodgers said following Celtic's 4-1 Scottish Cup victory over St Mirren on Sunday. "Hopefully completed next week."

Gordon, 34, has been a first-team regular for Celtic since joining the club in 2014 following a two-year spell out of the game through injury.

The former Hearts and Sunderland stopper has won two league titles, two Scottish Cups and one Scottish League Cup with the Hoops and has already featured 42 times this season.

He played the full 90 minutes as Celtic booked their place in the Scottish Cup semi-finals, with Mikael Lustig, Scott Sinclair, Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths on target against the Saints.

Celtic have now extended their unbeaten domestic run under Rodgers to 34 games, but the manager said St Mirren had provided Celtic with the sternest test they have faced in Scotland this season.

He said: "They are the best team that we have played domestically, including Premiership teams, without any shadow of a doubt.

"How they are at the bottom of the league (Championship) I do not know. They are a very good side.

"They have the boys Stephen McGinn and Stephen Mallan in midfield who are technically gifted. They are not worried about hooking it on or smashing it. They play football.

"They have been our biggest threat domestically this season for sure. I want to compliment my players first as they were outstanding but it's worth a mention to St Mirren as they did very well."
