Andy Holt says Rangers' signing of Josh Windass and Matt Crooks is 'a joke'.

Accrington Stanley owner Andy Holt has described Rangers' acquisition of two of his players as 'a joke'.

On Wednesday the Scottish Championship side completed the signings of striker Josh Windass and midfielder Matt Crooks on pre-contract agreements.

The pair, who have signed four-year deals, are out of contract in the summer and Accrington Stanley will be owed compensation, but the amount is less than would be due if they joined an English club.

Holt is far from happy with the deal which he says will see two of his club's first-team players walk away for 'next to nothing'.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ he said: "The lads have been offered a deal for probably 10 times what they were getting here and I can't argue with what they have done.

"They might have given us a call, but that's largely irrelevant, Rangers might have given us a call, but that's largely irrelevant.

"The FIFA situation where a Scottish club - an overseas club - can come to Accrington, a club that turns over £1.5m, and walk away with £1.5m of our assets for next to nothing is a joke."
