Rangers' managing director Stewart Robertson says there are still "good signings to come" over the summer as the club targets a winning return to the Scottish Premiership next season.

After four years in the lower leagues the Ibrox side will be back in the top flight for the start of the new campaign after Mark Warburton guided his team to the Championship title.

The Gers had already secured the pre-contract signings of Matt Crooks and Josh Windass and recently added Joey Barton as well as Liverpool youngster Jordan Rossiter to their squad.

However, while Robertson appreciates the magnitude of the task facing Rangers, he says there are more signings to come and believes their business in the transfer window could put the team in with a chance of success in the top flight.

"We would love to win the league, that's the position we are starting from and that was always the target for year two," he told rangers.co.uk.

"It will be a tough ask from where we are coming, there is no doubt about that but we have made some good signings and some strong signings. There are some really good signings to come, touch wood, and I know there are discussions ongoing at various stages.

"I would like to think with the quality of player we have targeted and are targeting, we will be in with a good shout next season.

"We started the season knowing we must get promoted - that was the number one objective and the be-all and end-all.

"That was achieved with a few games to go, which was great. We bedded in a new squad, and we always said the core of that squad had to be good enough for the Premiership, and I think that has been the case in the cup games we have played against various Premiership teams."

Rangers ended the season on a disappointing note as they failed to add a Scottish Cup final win to their Championship and Petrofac Training Cup successes, but Robertson says the style of football played throughout the campaign shows the team are on the right track.

"A lot of the objectives have been achieved, winning the Petrofac was a bonus and it would have been great to have won the Scottish Cup, it would have been great to have been in Europe," he said.

"It [the cup final] was maybe a bit of a reality check as to where we really are, where we still need to get to and the work we still need to do to get to where we want to be, which is back at the top of the Premiership and that is very much the target for next season.

"The style of football has been a bonus. The feedback I have had about the style of football has been very positive and it tells you everything about the way they have been playing football.

"For example, the way we played in the semi-final [against Celtic] was so refreshing and it has been great to watch this season and hopefully it will be more of the same next season."
