Ryan Jack was sent off on 36 minutes against Hibs after an altercation with Anthony Stokes

Rangers have submitted an appeal against Ryan Jack's red card against Hibernian.

The Scottish Football Association has confirmed Rangers, Motherwell and Hearts all lodged paperwork to challenge red cards from the weekend's Ladbrokes Premiership matches, which saw six players ordered off in total.

Jack was sent off by referee John Beaton following a melee during his side's 3-2 defeat by Hibernian. Television footage from one angle appeared to show the former Aberdeen midfielder move his head towards Hibs forward Anthony Stokes.

Hearts have challenged Isma Goncalves' red card after he was sent off for violent conduct after struggling with Kirk Broadfoot after the Kilmarnock defender hauled him to the ground and pulled his hair. Broadfoot was also sent off.

Motherwell have launched appeals against Craig Thomson's decisions to send off goalkeeper Trevor Carson and defender Charles Dunne during their 4-1 defeat by St Johnstone. The Lanarkshire side also lost Carl McHugh to two yellow cards.

Carson was shown a straight red card for picking up the ball on the edge of his 18-yard box. Footage showed he was marginally outside the area but Motherwell may dispute that he denied Saints a goalscoring opportunity.

Dunne was also sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity when Graham Cummins went down in the box but Motherwell argued there was no contact.

All cases will be heard by a tribunal on Thursday.

SFA compliance officer Tony McGlennan could yet instigate more action over the Ibrox encounter and is understood to be looking at Neil Lennon's celebrations after Hibs' first goal, when the Easter Road head coach briefly cupped his ears and raised his fist towards Rangers fans behind his dugout.

Police earlier dismissed the prospect of action against the former Celtic manager after receiving a number of complaints about his actions.

Stokes also came under scrutiny after appearing to grab Jack by the throat but there was no news of a notice of complaint being issued by McGlennan by the deadline for fast-track proceedings at 3pm on Tuesday.
