Lee McCulloch is convinced that Derek McInnes will soon be on his way to Rangers

Lee McCulloch is convinced that Derek McInnes will soon be on his way to Rangers saying he would be a "perfect fit" for the Ibrox hot seat.

Aberdeen boss McInnes has insisted neither he nor his club have received an approach about filling the managerial vacancy at Ibrox.

But the former Rangers captain McCulloch, who left his coaching role at Kilmarnock last month, believes McInnes has proved his credentials at Pittodrie and now needs a fresh challenge.

McCulloch told Sky Sports News: "He's played for the club, he knows the demands of the club and his recruitment for Aberdeen has been fantastic. The transformation from when he took over Aberdeen to where they are now has been incredible. How much further can he take Aberdeen?

"I think it's probably the right time for Derek, although Derek probably couldn't say this, it's the time to leave.
