New deal for Gomis, but Kalvenes faces spell out

Dundee United midfielder Morgaro Gomis has signed a new deal at Tannadice. Gomis, who joined the Tayside outfit in January, has inked a two-year extension to keep him at United until 2010. The 22-year-old has impressed United boss Craig Levein since his arrival at the club and he is delighted to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

Delighted

"He has adapted very quickly to the demands of the SPL and has impressed me with his attitude as well as his ability," Levein told the club's official website. "I am delighted to have secured him for a further two years as I am sure he will continue to develop and improve at Tannadice and be a real asset to the team in the years ahead." Meanwhile, United defender Christian Kalvenes faces a spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury in last weekend's win over St Mirren. The Norwegian was forced off with a calf injury and Levein expects Kalvenes to be out of action for up to a month.
Tear
"We are assessing just how bad it is, but, if it is a tear, he will be out for a few weeks," Levein told the Evening Telegraph. "That would be a big blow to him and to us because I think he`s been superb since the start of the season."
