Ex-Madrid youngster given opportunity by Shiels

Former Real Madrid youth player Borja Perez is hoping to impress Kilmarnock boss Kenny Shiels after joining the club on trial. The striker never made a first-team appearance during his time at the Bernabeu, but he did get his revenge as part of the Alcorcon side who humiliated Real in the Copa del Rey in 2009. At the moment Killie are short of options in the final third and Perez will feature in James Fowler's testimonial against Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday evening. Shiels is hoping the 30-year-old Spaniard can hit the ground running in the friendly encounter. He told STV: "The chairman says there's no money which I have to accept. "We've got a trial player in tonight from Spain who is a support striker. "He has got the attributes to play in our team but we have to see if that comes out (in the match) and see where the financial side is."
