Police Scotland say “enquiries are ongoing” after they received complaints regarding Neil Lennon’s conduct in Hibernian’s weekend win over Rangers at Ibrox.

Rangers fan group, Club 1872, which holds more than 10 per cent of shares in the club, released a statement on Sunday in which they accused the Hibernian manager of attempting to "incite trouble" at the game, which the visitors won 3-2.

The group also accused Lennon of making "various inflammatory gestures to the supporters sitting directly behind the Hibernian dugout" after Hibs levelled the match in the 21st minute.

A Police Scotland statement said: "We can confirm that Police Scotland has received complaints regarding the conduct of Neil Lennon during the match and that enquiries are ongoing into these complaints and any other issues brought to our attention from Saturday's game."

Police Scotland have also released a statement in relation to online threats made on social media towards Lennon in the aftermath of Saturday's game.

The statement read: "Police Scotland is aware of offensive and threatening comments that have been posted on social media concerning a named individual and enquiries are currently ongoing in connection with this."

After the match, Lennon insisted he had no concerns about his goal celebrations. When it was suggested Rangers assistant manager Helder Baptista had spoken to police about Lennon, he said: "I didn't make a gesture, I celebrated a goal.

"If they are unhappy about it they can come and tell me. But I shouldn't get into trouble for doing that. I am celebrating a goal. What way are you supposed to celebrate a goal?"

Scottish Football Association compliance officer Tony McGlennan could also look into the incident.

Lennon has a two-game suspended ban hanging over him following a clash with Morton boss Jim Duffy last season. The ban would be triggered if Lennon was found guilty of misconduct before the end of 2017.

Alfredo Morelos put Rangers in front before Simon Murray's 21st-minute equaliser. Ryan Jack was then sent off for the home side following a melee in which the Rangers midfielder was involved with Anthony Stokes, before James Tavernier's own goal gave Hibs the lead.

Vykintas Slivka made it 3-1 after 65 minutes before Tavernier got one back for Rangers with 10 minutes remaining as Hibernian made it two wins from two in the Scottish Premiership.
