SPL leave door open for free agent defender

Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo is remaining tight-lipped on whether Alan Maybury will be re-signed by the club. The former Aberdeen and Leicester man is currently training with Hearts in a bid to maintain fitness after being without a club since the summer. It had been suggested Hearts could snap up the 30-year-old in order to boost their squad options, but Laszlo does not think a deal will be concluded anytime soon. "At the moment, it is not a question for me whether Alan will come in the team or not," he told the Evening News.

Wait and see

"Maybe in the winter break, when the transfer window is open, we will see what we can do. "We must have a concrete plan and this plan must be between me and the club. The owner and the club must make a decision so I'm not thinking about this." Maybury enjoyed his first spell on Tynecastle and would be open to re-joining the club, although he also has other options available. "I loved my time at Hearts and to go back would be great," Maybury said. "My agent is speaking to a few other clubs at the same time. I need to keep my fitness up until someone says 'you'll do for me'."
