Scottish Championship favourites Hibernian's dip in form continued as they were knocked out of the Irn Bru Cup by St Mirren.

Neil Lennon's side have now failed to win in each of their last four games after the second tier's bottom side came back to win 2-1 at Easter Road.

Alex Harris gave Hibs a lead after 37 minutes but four minutes later their opponents were level when Stevie Mallan struck with an excellent free-kick.

Although the home side's Dylan McGeouch later hit a post, it was David Clarkson who won the game for the visitors eight minutes from the end.

There were no such problems for Hibs' fellow title hopefuls Dundee United, who recorded a narrow 1-0 win at Stranraer.

A header from on-loan Norwich midfielder Tony Andreu midway through the second half secured their victory at Stair Park.

Dunfermline striker Farid El Alagui hit an unusual hat-trick as he scored all three goals in his team's 2-1 win against Queen's Park.

He then set up a nervy finish, however, as he nodded into his own net to complete his treble - all of them headers - and he will have felt relief at the final whistle at not impeding his side too much.

The introduction of teams from Wales and Northern Ireland has brought mixed outcomes so far, with Crusaders losing 2-1 at home to Livingston on Friday night.

The guest teams' poor form continued into Saturday at first as Welsh Premier League side Bala Town were beaten 4-2 by Alloa in Jack Ross' final game in charge before leaving for St Mirren.

Greg Spence scored twice before half-time and Jon Robertson also netted before Lee Hunt's penalty reduced the deficit.

Kevin Cawley made it 4-1 before Stuart Jones netted what amounted to nothing more than a consolation moments before the end.

Where Crusaders and Bala failed, The New Saints were far more impressive as they won 3-1 at Forfar Athletic.

Greg Draper scored a hat-trick at Station Park, with Stuart Malcolm ensuring the teams were level at the break before Draper's final two goals in the last 10 minutes swung the match his side's way.
