West Ham have confirmed striker Diafra Sakho has joined Rennes for a fee understood to be £8m.

The 28-year-old joins the French Ligue 1 club after three-and-a-half seasons at West Ham, during which time he scored 24 goals in 71 first-team appearances.

Sakho moved to East London from Metz in the summer of 2014 and scored in his first six Premier League games to equal a record and earn him that October's Player of the Month award.

However, injuries and competition for places restricted the Senegal international's appearances over the last two years, and he has started just two Premier League matches since the start of the 2016/17 season.

West Ham have already told Andre Ayew he can leave the club and are actively pursuing a replacement, with former Southampton striker Graziano Pelle high on the club's list of targets.
