French side allow midfielder to leave club in summer

Lyon have confirmed midfielder Juninho Pernambucano will leave the Ligue 1 club at the end of the season. The skilful Brazilian's future has been the subject of uncertainty amid reports he could leave France for the Middle East or his homeland. Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has now confirmed the 34-year-old has been granted permission to terminate his current terms, which were set to expire in 2010, after eight years at Stade Gerland. "He asked us yesterday to let him go as free agent. For all he has done and for all he represents for us, we thought it would be fair to agree," Aulas told reporters. Juninho, who is suspended for the Lyon's last game of the season, scored his 100th goal for the club during a 3-1 home victory against Caen in what was his last appearance on Saturday.
