AC Milan striker Stephan El Shaarawy is set to join AS Monaco, according to Sky sources.

The Italy international could undergo a medical this weekend after his brother and agent Manuel held talks with the French club on Friday evening.

El Shaarawy spent three months on the sidelines last season after fracturing a metatarsal bone in his right foot.

The 22-year-old arrived at the San Siro from Genoa in 2011 and has won 13 caps for the Azzurri.

Milan, meanwhile, are said to be locked in a battle with city rivals Inter for the signature of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Seria report the Rossoneri have increased their offer for the PSG striker, who has a year remaining on his current contract and is also wanted by Inter boss Roberto Mancini.

Ibrahimovic has previously played for both Milan clubs, spending three years with Inter before joining Barcelona in 2009.

The 33-year-old left the Nou Camp a year later after falling out with Pep Guardiola and returned to Italy with Milan and then signed for PSG in 2012.
