Paris Saint-Germain secured a domestic treble after overcoming stubborn Les Herbiers 2-0 in the French Cup final.

Unai Emery fielded his strongest side and watched Kylian Mbappe and Giovani Lo Celso - twice - hit the post before the latter finally made a 26th-minute breakthrough at the Stade de France.

But the heavyweights were made to work for glory by the third-tier side and had to wait until the 74th minute when Edinson Cavani made sure of a record-extending 12th French Cup title from the penalty spot.

Les Herbiers, who are fighting relegation in the third division and play in a town with a population of just 16,000, defended stoutly throughout and almost had a moment to remember when substitute Clement Couturier raced through in injury time.

But the result, which gives PSG their fourth successive French Cup means Spanish coach Unai Emery will leave on a high note.
