Argentine star closing in on switch to PSG

Argentine star Javier Pastore has revealed that he decided to join Paris St Germain rather than Chelsea because he will play more regularly in the French capital. Pastore has yet to officially sign for big-spending PSG from Palermo but he announced earlier in the week that a deal was imminent and reports suggest he could be presented to the Parc des Princes crowd ahead of Saturday's opening game of the season against Lorient. It would be a major coup for PSG to complete such a transfer, as Pastore had attracted the attention of several big European clubs, including Chelsea. However, the 22-year-old recognises that it would have been more difficult for him to establish himself as a regular starter at Stamford Bridge.

Important

He believes a move to PSG will be good for his development and is relishing the opportunity to make a major impact in Ligue 1. "What I am experiencing is very nice," he told Eurosport. "This will be an important moment in my career, the most important so far. "I am not joining a league as big as England or Spain, but Le Championnat de France will bring me a lot on a personal level and for my sporting improvement. "At Chelsea or in another club, I would have not played as often as I could hope. I believe at Paris I will play and will be able to show my value."
