Malaga have announced that head coach Javier Gracia will step down this summer.

Gracia led cash-strapped Malaga to an eighth-placed finish in La Liga this season and a respectable ninth last season, while also overseeing a memorable 1-0 win away at Barcelona.

However, he will not continue in charge of the Andalusians next year, despite extending his contract until 2019 as recently as March.

"Javier Gracia Carlos will not continue next season at Malaga and leaves the club after two seasons in charge of the first team," the club said in a statement.

Despite being linked with a move to the Premier League, it has been reported in Spain that Gracia's next move will be to Russian side Rubin Kazan, where he could sign a four-year deal worth 12m euros.

Rubin are without European football next year after finishing 10th in the league.
