Sevilla became the first side in La Liga history to field a starting XI that contained no Spanish players against Eibar on Saturday.

Six different nationalities and personnel from three different continents made up Sevilla's line-up in the 1-1 draw. The all-foreign starting team had four Argentines, three French players and one each from Italy, Japan, Portugal and Brazil.

However, it did only take 14 minutes for boss Jorge Sampaoli to bring on a Spanish player, with Sergio Escudero replacing the injured Adil Rami.

With Champions League commitments taking hold, Sampaoli did make seven changes from the side that had earned a creditable draw at Juventus three days prior to their trip to the Basque region, and that level of squad rotation affected Sevilla's rhythm a great deal, according to Sky Sports' Terry Gibson.

"Everything still has to settle at Sevilla, it is hard to judge," Gibson told the La Liga weekly podcast. "The theme of the game [against Eibar] was giving the ball away, especially in promising attacking positions.

"An over hit pass, under hit pass, a misplaced pass - it was an all-round sloppy performance."
