With some high-scoring results in La Liga over the weekend, it was a mixed bag for our experts in Revista Predictor, as David Garrido reports...
Now then, the #RevistaPredictor thinks he's got us. I know he does. He's gone back to his lair for the international break, thinking he's broken us, mainly because nobody has picked a correct first goalscorer for weeks. But that changed today.
Remember, it's one point for getting the match result right (win, lose or draw), then another three points for the exact correct score and six points for first goal-scorer.
What a result that was for Pepe Mel, to keep him in the job at El Riazor. It didn't look too good for more than half this match, but then Lucas Perez and Florin Andone turned a 0-1 deficit into a 2-1 lead and ultimately three vital points for Deportivo. David Phillips and I got the scoreIine right, with no points elsewhere.
If you predicted the exact score in this game, you deserve a medal. All the pre-match indications were that this encounter would be entertaining, and so it proved. Betis will maybe be happier with the point away, but they did lead with five minutes to go. Kevin Keatings and myself pick up a single point for correct outcome (draw).
Everyone except Rob Palmer went for a home win and it was the right choice, as Valencia continue their unbeaten start to the season and move up to third in the La Liga table. But most significantly as far as the Predictor is concerned, Jon Driscoll picked up an extra six points for identifying Simone Zaza as first goalscorer at Mestalla.
All of which means we have a new leader in the overall standings - Kevin has swapped places with Rob, one point ahead, and Jon has bunched the title race right up. The two Davids are level in the battle to avoid the wooden spoon.
As for your predictions, here are the tweeters of the week:
@Campbell6_2 managed correct match outcomes at Anoeta and Mestalla, as well as picking Zaza to score first, so that's eight points.
@LaLigaGav also got the Italian as first scorer in the Valencia v Athletic game and went for a home win in that game, so gets seven points.
Enjoy the international break, and we'll let you know about the Matchday 8 games in LaLiga for the #RevistaPredictor on our Twitter feed, @SkyRevista.
