Barcelona president Joan Laporta expects to receive offers for Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o this summer.

Laporta keen for striker to stay at Camp Nou

Barcelona president Joan Laporta expects to receive offers for Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o this summer. The Camp Nou supremo does not want to see the 28-year-old leave the new European champions, but accepts that there will be interest in the highly-rated forward. There has been speculation that Pep Guardiola will use Eto'o as the makeweight in a deal to land Inter Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while cash-fuelled Manchester City are also said to be monitoring his progress. Eto'o, whose current deal expires at the end of next season, scored the opening goal in Barcelona's UEFA Champions League final victory over Manchester United in Rome with his pace and powerful finishing always a threat to opposition defences.

Surprises

Laporta said: "Samuel has a contract and we're very happy with him. "We want him to continue with us and for him to retire in the Barca shirt. "But the market is very dynamic and there could be surprises. He's a wanted man and we know he'll receive offers. "We want him to continue, he has a contract and let's hope he renews it."
