Atletico striker gains Spanish nationality

Atletico Madrid have confirmed that Sergio Aguero has been granted Spanish nationality. In Spanish football, a Primera Liga side can only contain three non-EU players. Up until this point Aguero represented one of those places, but now his decision to take on Spanish citizenship means Atletico are free to bring in another non-EU player. The other two spots are currently Uruguay defender Diego Godin and Brazilian Diego Costa. Aguero has been with Atletico since 2006, when they paid Independiente more than £20million for the Argentine international.
