Mauricio Pochettino has not offered to resign as coach of Espanyol and does not think that Saturday's game against Real Valladolid will be his last.
The Blanc i Blau trainer has seen his side make a poor start to the season as they have won just one point in the first six outings, but calls for him to go have been muted.
"I do not have the feeling that I am playing to keep my job," Pochettino told the media.
"Now I have spent four years in my dream job and I know the responsibilities and that things need to change for the better."
The Espanyol board have seen calls for them to resign during recent home matches and Pochettino held talks with the directors on Wednesday.
Speculation has arisen that the coach may decide to quit, but he denied that he ever had any intention of leaving but knows that he is ultimately responsible for the recent results.
"I have not offered to resign, but I have made it clear that if there are any doubts I do not feel attached to any contract. I do not want to be an obstacle," he continued.
"Whatever the case, I want to improve the situation and for this I have to put myself in the hands of the club."
Pochettino remains a popular figure with the Barcelona-based club's supporters after two playing spells at Espanyol as a strong central defender when he made a total of 275 appearances.
The 40-year-old took over at Espanyol in January 2009 when he replaced veteran trainer Mane when he lasted only a month at the helm.
