Barcelona have unveiled new images of their Nou Camp redevelopment plans, which will see the capacity of the stadium increase to 105,000.

Japanese architects have won the contract to undertake the work to create the new-look stadium, a project which is expected to cost £460m and take four years.

The club have stressed that the expect the majority of the work - which will begin next year - to take place during the off-season and the midwinter break so the club will not have to move any home games.

The plans include a "spacious sky-deck overlooking the stadium and the city" and three open concourses.

A Barcelona statement read: "The proposal stands out for being open, elegant and democratic.

"The plans represent proposals to blend the stadium into the surrounding environment and guarantees a clear and safe construction."

The club famously had no shirt sponsor until it teamed up with UNICEF in 2006, and for the last five years their jerseys featured the brand of the Qatar Foundation and then Qatar Airways.
