Lionel Messi opened his account for the season with a trademark finish

Lionel Messi opened his La Liga goalscoring account with a stunning low finish against Real Betis on Saturday.

The Barcelona star picked up the ball 22 yards from goal at the Nou Camp, turned onto his left foot and fired an unstoppable shot past Real Betis goalkeeper Antonio Adan.

It was a trademark strike from Messi, and an important one too with the score 1-1 at the time. Luis Suarez then added a third on his way to a hat-trick before Messi doubled his tally for the afternoon as the champions romped to a 6-2 victory.

The Argentina forward scored 26 league goals for Barcelona last term.

This is the 21st season of live Spanish football on Sky Sports with over 300 games available throughout the campaign.

As well as Barcelona on Saturday evening, you can also watch Real Madrid go to the Anoeta on Sunday night to face Real Sociedad, live on Sky Sports 1 at 7.15pm.
